CHUCK The RULES: Art Show

When: During the Month of November during regular library business hours.

Where: Listowel branch, North Perth Public Library, Main Street West, Listowel

What: Artist's created artworks that "breaks their most hated rule" See their choice, read about their issues with the rule, and decide for yourself, did they succeed in creating a "masterpiece"'. CALL TO ARTISTS: Entries requested for CHUCK THE RULES … art outside the box. Question: Why haven’t you entered any of the North Perth Arts Council art challenges or shows? There is good exposure for you and your work, and monetary reward for your effort if selected as a winner. Artist answer: “Well…. I’d like to, but there are so many rules. You just can’t create your art. I create what I feel.” NPACC: There are many rules, and many reasons for those rules. Most are for practical reasons developed over hundreds of years of “making mistakes”, or finding that there is a better way to convey the artist’s message. “If there is a rule – there is a pretty good reason for it.” BUT … here is your opportunity to CHUCK the rules, create outside the box, and enter our newest creative art challenge. Proceed to pick the rule you don’t agree with. e.g. Subject should be centered. Create your artwork in any media of your choice – breaking the rule – and in 75 words or less tell the viewer why your artwork is better with the broken rule. Sound like a fun challenge? Here are the rules that artists most often want to bend or break. You may have others. COMPOSITION COLOUR THEORY CONTRAST BALANCE Entry deadline: Entries are accepted Thursday October 25th 6pm to 7:30 pm at Listowel Library. Show runs November at NP Public Library, Listowel branch during regular hours. Entries will be judged prior to the show and winners indicated in the display. There will be an awards presentation Monday November 12th, 7:00 pm. Social time to meet and mingle with the artists, family and friends, 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
